The Electrical Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the pre-commissioning and commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems and equipment within the project.
This role focuses on ensuring that all electrical components are installed, tested, and validated in accordance with design specifications, procedures, and operational requirements, which directly contributes to the safe, reliable, and efficient start-up of the petrochemical plant.

Job Description:

  • Manage and coordinate daily pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all HV and LV distribution systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, and motor control centers (MCCs)
  • Supervising and directing subcontractors and product specialists (vendors) during the testing phases, ensuring that all activities strictly adhere to the project schedule and safety guidelines
  • Reviewing and approving electrical test sheets, inspection reports, and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) reports from suppliers
  • Develop, update, and implement detailed electrical Commissioning Test Procedures (CTPs) and electrical wiring diagrams
  • Oversee and validate critical test procedures such as insulation resistance measurements, contact resistance, protection relay testing, functional interlocks, and energization sequences
  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex electrical design issues and technical questions on-site in close collaboration with the engineering and construction teams
  • Documenting and managing technical open items (punch lists) and nonconformities via formal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and following up on corrective actions until safe handover

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Electrical Commissioning Supervisor or Specialist in the petrochemical, oil and gas, or heavy chemical industries
  • In-depth technical knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, HV/LV switchgear, protective relays, variable speed drives (VSDs), and emergency power systems
  • Extensive hands-on experience performing and supervising electrical walk-through checks, functional tests, and initial energization protocols
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), circuit diagrams, and cable lists
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose technical malfunctions, interface issues, and equipment failures under pressure
  • Full professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken), as this is the primary project and safety language on site
  • An absolute commitment to electrical safety standards and regulations for potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX), supported by a valid BA4/BA5 certificate and VCA Petrochemicals certificate or equivalent
