Freelance Architect for Residential Renovation in Uccle (Brussels)

We are a private homeowner in Uccle (Brussels) looking for a freelance architect to support us on an ongoing basis for the execution phase of a full house renovation. Our urban planning permit application for a complete renovation has been submitted and we are currently awaiting final approval. The main design and permit dossier are already prepared; we now need an experienced architect to translate the approved project into detailed construction documentation, coordinate with the structural engineer and contractors, support us with budgeting, and manage end?of?renovation paperwork with the commune.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed technical drawings and execution plans based on the approved permit drawings (plans, sections, details).
• Prepare construction details for structural works, façades, insulation, waterproofing, windows/doors, stairs, and key junctions as needed for the contractor to build.
• Work closely with civil/structural engineer to finalize all construction details (foundations, slabs, beams, openings, structural reinforcements, etc.).
• Ensure consistency between architectural drawings and structural calculations, and incorporate the engineer’s comments and specifications into the execution plans
• Draft a detailed bill of quantities (BoQ) for the main trades (demolition, structural works, masonry, roofing, exterior joinery, interior partitions, finishes, and relevant interfaces with MEP).
• Support us in using the BoQ as a basis for budget estimation and comparison of contractors’ quotes.
• Communicate in French with the construction company during the preparation and execution phases (clarifications on drawings, details, missing information) if needed.

End?of?renovation administrative file

• Prepare, coordinate, and file all documents required at the end of the renovation with the commune and any other relevant authority, including completion-related administrative paperwork and any necessary sign?offs, as applicable to the project in Brussels.

Profile and requirements

• Professional registration: Architect licensed to sign off architectural projects in the Brussels?Capital Region (registered with the Ordre des Architectes and able to intervene on a residential renovation in Uccle).
• Skills and experience: Proven experience in residential renovation projects in Belgium, ideally in Brussels.

Languages

• French: sufficient to communicate independently with contractors and suppliers (oral and written).
• English: comfortable for communication with us (the clients).

Freelance, time?and?material engagement

Freelance collaboration based on an hourly or daily rate (time and material).

Timing and availability

Start date: as soon as possible, in anticipation of the permit approval and preparation of the execution phase.
Possibility to work mainly remotely, with occasional on?site visits in Uccle/Brussels if needed (to be agreed).
